All of our patients receive pain medications before, during and after surgery as well as local nerve blocks at the location of the incision to provide optimum pain control. Our anesthesia protocol is tailored to each pets needs, there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to anesthetic safety.
When you arrive you will go through the check in process with a member of your pets surgical team. We will go over all anesthetic and surgical options and discuss any questions you may have. Your pet will be with us through their recovery period where they will spend time with our dedicated recovery staff until discharge. Your doctor and technician will contact you before and after surgery and be available to answer any questions you have throughout the day.
At Animal Care Center, we work to provide the most advanced medical equipment to treat your pets. One of the options we provide is the use of a surgical laser for different procedures. Primarily used in spays and neuters, laser surgery utilizes a highly-focused beam to cut through the tissue. It simultaneously seals capillaries, small blood vessels, lymphatics and nerve endings. Laser surgery has many benefits for your pet when compared to traditional surgery.
These benefits include:
Reduced pain – Laser seals nerve endings as it goes, vastly reducing the amount of pain the patient feels during and after surgery.
Reduced bleeding – The laser cauterizes and seals small blood vessels, providing the surgeon with a cleaner surgical field and the patient with a greatly-decreased risk of bleeding during surgery.
Reduced swelling – There is no physical contact between the laser and the region being operated on, eliminating the tearing and bruising associated with traditional surgical methods.
Quicker recovery – As a result of all of the above, laser surgery provides the benefit we know you will appreciate most of all: a quicker recovery for your pet.
