Pets and Colorado
When you live in a place where there is an average of 300 days of sunshine a year finding activities to do with your furry friends is a must, you need to take advantage of all those beautiful days.
There are a wide variety of activities you can do with your pet. Here are some of my favorites!
Hiking
We are perfectly situated at the base of one of the most magnificent mountain ranges in the country! There are multitudes of hiking trails in the area and most are dog friendly. Here are Some Websites to find a dog-friendly hiking trail near you:

When choosing a hike or walk for you and your dog think about what is a good level of difficulty for both of you, what terrain might be best for your dog to walk on for an extended period of time, and the weather.
Very rough rock surfaces, trails with lots of thorns, or pavement on a hot day can all cause damage to your dog's paws. You can avoid these surfaces or you can invest in a set of "hiking boots" for your dog. There are many styles and options you can choose from to keep your pup's feet safe and comfortable.
Some cats make great tail buddies too! This may not be for every cat but some can be leash trained and enjoy accompanying their humans on walks and hikes.
Always keep in mind your dog's fitness level, age, and overall health while planning a hike, you can always check with your veterinarian.
Dog Parks
There are a variety of dog parks in the greater Denver area! Many such as Cherry Creek State Park and Chatfield State Park have areas with water access. Some dogs may just need a place to run free for some off-leash fetch, while others may enjoy making new friends, dog parks have a little something for everyone.
Be sure that your pup is up to date on all of his/her vaccinations prior to going.
Other Fun Finds
A really fun place to check out when you are in the area is Pub Dog in Colorado Springs. This is a wonderful cross between a dog park and a pub. They have excellent food for you and your furry friend, as well as an outdoor off-leash play area. On weekends they serve brunch and have a build your own Bloody-Mary station. It is an all-around great place for you and your pup to relax, play, and eat!
Go out there this summer and explore! Make so great memories for you and your furry friend.
